I’m Sarah.
Being a single mum, domestic abuse survivor was the main reason for me wanting to set up a support group to empower others who have or are currently in a similar situation.
I thought the future was all mapped out. A secure family unit, happiness and big plans. Then everything changed.
Me and my daughter were exposed to various levels abuse from verbal, emotional, mental and physical.
After a while I got the strength to leave and pressed charges against my abuser.
After a long process I finally got my perpetrator convicted.
I have had various mental scars, but I feel I am one of the lucky ones. This is how this support group evolved
I want to help others, to guide them towards help and know that we are not just statistics we are strong warriors.
I also wanted to build a community which will grow. Helping both direct victims and the wider family dynamics e.g. children, family members
Thrive beyond abuse is a community to show other women, men and children have a voice and there is a future, hope and a new life for all.
